A small incision is made under the bridge of the nose to lift the cupid’s bow (the central part of the lip where it makes the sensual upturn) and fix it with fine, barely visible sutures.
If further lateral parts of the lip are to be lifted, the incision is extended so that it reaches up to the nostrils and then looks like the head of a longhorn bull, hence the name bullhorn lip lift.

The effect of a lip correction is usually temporary and lasts for around 2 to 4 months, depending on how the patient reacts to the botulinum toxin. The procedure is relatively quick and requires minimal downtime, so the full effect is visible within a few days.
